Tide Breaker RPG: Cinematic Tabletop RPG system

Created by Nick Butler.

This is the Backer Kit store for Tide Breaker RPG! Didn't get a chance to pledge during the Kickstarter or want to cop some add ons? Don't fret, we got you covered! Come on in and have a look, friends!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Backer Kit Store is Live!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 05:29:47 AM

Hey hey! Check out the Pre Order Store!

If you're looking to grab a copy of the book or some of the swag that was available during the campaign, then we've got the button right on the front page! Though, I'm gonna share it here too, because we're cool like that, friend!

https://tidebreakerrpg.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Backer Kit Surveys!

As far as the survey's go, I'm honestly not sure when I'm going to be ready to send those out. The current train of thought is soon after all of the assets have been gathered and we're close to printing, but if conditions/opinions change in regards to that I'll post another update to inform everyone about that.

Backer Kit's survey's are pretty cool too from what I've seen poking around the utility they provide. If you weren't sure about the game before, you'll have an chance to grab some add ons and change your pledge level via the survey.

What we're up to in the meantime.

Honestly, now that the pre order store is up, I'm going to probably take a week or two off from doing ANYTHING related to Tide Breaker. This has been my entire life for the last couple of months leading up to the campaign and during it. After that, I'm going to put my nose to the grindstone and bang out updates and such. This should give us enough time for the funding to clear and put me in a position to start paying everyone so they can join me in getting this work! As I've said in the previous update, I'll keep everyone posted once a month and whenever we have major news to share.

Thanks everyone!

Quick update: Survey's and things.
almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jul 23, 2021 at 09:07:18 PM

We're Getting Ready For The Late Pledge Store.

That's the tweet.

No really though, I have an update.

:-D

Yeah, so the short and skinny of it is, we're still in the middle of getting some last minute adjustments (mostly product images, descriptions of things, etc. busy work be busy, ya'll) before we get to launching the Backer Kit late pledge store. I'm going to take the weekend to make sure we have as much done as possible and then we can hit the ground running early next week (think Monday or Tuesday, I work through the weekend).

After that, you'll be able to flip your pledge levels around and grab some cool gear from the store. Discounts for our Early Access campaign will be applied to those that bought a copy before the Kickstarter to your whole order as well as a thanks to my day 1's! I see you! Well I guess ya'll are like Day Alphas? Day Zeros? Somebody correct me please. This is going to bother me all week. Heh.

Final Early Access PDFs.

I'll be going through the list one last time tomorrow and hand checking everything to make sure all of our qualifying backers (really anyone that paid more than pledged over the dollar tier) has a copy of the EA PDF. If you don't have a copy after this last check, please let me know here, email, or via Twitter. I'd rather ya'll are able to get to reading as soon as possible.

Further Update Schedule

To be honest, I got a day job and kids ya'll. I'm going to shoot for once a month and more if there's relevant information to share here. Please understand that I'm wearing a lot of hats here and I need to be project leader, lead writer, etc. while taking care of my family and mental health. I promise I'll make sure to be as consistent as possible and transparent as I can be with anything that's going on. Just putting it out there now so people aren't blowing up my email about progress related things now, ya dig?

As far as that's concerned, writing is getting close to done done on my end. Stretch development will hopefully start soon after the check clears, dependent on each of our contributors schedules. As most of the work is going to be on the smaller side (comparatively speaking against the rest of the game anyway) I predict that we'll be completely finished writing by Q1 next year at the worst, but please give us a bit of leeway; this is new territory for myself, and the rest of our team have their own projects to work on beyond helping out with my stuff here.

Art development is in the same boat. For the most part, all of the artist on the team produce fairly quickly, with one month being the longest I've waited for any individual piece. I will be dropping new art sporadically in future updates as proof of progress, but again, please be patient everyone! Few good things result from rushing. That said, I'm shooting for Q1 to Q2 next year at the latest for all the art to be done.

After that, we'll just have layout and editing. Francita and Draconick are very good at what they do and from what I've seen of them, produce results fairly quickly too. Francita is already working on graphics in the period between the campaign and writing being completed, and Draconick should be able to start doing his final editing passes after all of the content is finished up. Once that's settled, Francita will be able to lay it all out and we'll be set to print.

So when all is said and done, We should be ready to go for physical copies this time next year. All of the stickers, hoodies, etc will be delivered at the same time to avoid confusion. The PDFs will be delivered as soon as layout is done so you'll have the final rules as soon as we can get them cleaned up and presentable for ya'll.

Thanks again for your support everyone!

I'll do a final update to close things out as far as my thoughts on the campaign (if you haven't seen the Twitter thread... it'll be that but with some extra details) as part of the BackerKit store launch update.

In the meantime, check out this cool campaign from one of our friends! Fallen Kingdoms!

Fallen Kingdom & Jungles of Dread are the two newest books in the Dungeon Craft series. Both books have nearly 1,000 jungle-themed terrain pieces in them, which allow DMs to build custom interactive maps in minutes.you'll be able to throw your players into fantastically overgrown jungles, sprawling dungeons, tribal camps, Coastal markets, as well some of the most iconic locations from Wizards of the Coasts: "Tomb of Annihilation".

We're also excited to say that jungle-themed versions of some of the most popular items from those past projects will be brought back for this Kickstarter. That includes the Deck of Stories, NPC cards, journals, and new models from our miniature line Counterspell Miniatures. We'll also be unveiling new and exciting products like our Jungles of Dread DM Screen and our African Jasper D20.

Finally we released a free Adventure for D&D 5E for anyone that wants it. The Adventure is called Den of the Serpent King and you don’t need to back the kickstarter to get it, just stop by the Kickstarter page and the free PDF is in the description.

Last Update Before The End!
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 21, 2021 at 11:06:57 PM

One more stretch goal!

We're working on updating the page right now, but I've got some killer news and a challenge to this wonderful community.

Can we get 50k before noon EST?

If we do then you're going to love what we've got in store for you, backers!

POCgamer, also known as Panzer Lion, will be joining the team to bless our pages with his encyclopedic knowledge of all things gaming to produce the most hype of adventures for Tide Breaker! Through his blog he's shared his extensive expertise on world building and love of Dungeons and Dragons as well as . He's been a guest writer for Chaosium Inc for "Rivers of London" (that novel series is awesome btw, can't wait for the game to come out), Hard Wired Island for Weird Age Games, and several of his own works including my favorite, "Fight City RPG".  Now, if we can clear this goal in this final 12 hours... he'll be working for YOU backer!

What's Next?

We've got the Backer Kit store set up and have some exciting add ons ready for you!

Want more books? Got you covered.

Need that hoodie from the mastermind tier? The drip on deck, fam.

Thinking about some stickers? Tell us what ya need!

The point is, I want to make sure everyone is happy and getting what they need out of this. I've been working really hard over the course of this month to make sure things are running smooth, and with your help, and the help of our friends at  Possum Creek, we've been able to set up our late pledge tiers so we can do just that.

 Beyond The Campaign.

I'm excited to find out, to be quite honest with you, backers! The plan as of writing this is to make sure the end of the campaign goes as smoothly as we can make it, then focus on finishing up the final bits of writing over the next month or two. Stretch Goals will start production soon after the check clears alongside the art. Once all of the art and writing has been turned in, I'll hand the game over to Francita and Draconick, and it'll be a waiting game from there. They both work pretty quickly so I'm hoping we will get through this process quickly.

Regardless of how things turn out though, I will be sure to keep everyone posted with what we're doing, pop in with some art drops, shout out some friends, etc. Just because the campaign is ending does not mean our relationship as a growing community needs to afterall. I'm so excited to have talked to you all and share my work with the world and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity you have presented me with, family!

So, let's get it!

#KeepItHeroic everyone!

Mid campaign report! Bonus: Shipping updates!
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 10, 2021 at 12:45:45 AM

Fun Fact: Mobile Kickstarter Does Not Allow Update Post.

On the other hand, do ya'll really want to see all of the extra errors I'd make typing on a cell phone? There is a reason we have Draconick on board after all, fam! :-D

Really though, down to business!

Two weeks in and we're still kicking! I'm thrilled with the progress we're making heroes! One stretch goal down and we're inches away from officially welcoming Gabe Hicks and Janet Forbes to the team for stretch goal numero dos! Three exclamation points is a good start for a first paragraph huh, backers?

In this last stretch of the campaign, we're making plans to cover the last stretch of goals and making sure the math is just right as we've seen things happen to devs more experienced than I am and I'd rather not fall into the same traps. So in the spirit of keeping things fully transparent and communicating with you all about something that many of you have been concerned about, let's introduce our next header, shall we?

 Shipping News!

We're partnered up with the mighty Possum Creek Games, makers of the fantastic Wanderhome to help us out with all of our shipping concerns. They'll be letting us use their warehouse and selling part of our surplus stock of Tide Breaker hard covers post campaign. We'll still be keeping our relationship with Backer Kit to handle logistics, surveys, etc. However, as stated in the campaign story, I've been blessed to have some more experienced industry professionals take an interest in the work my team has been doing with Tide Breaker and Possum Creek has been extremely kind to lend us a hand!

You're not here for the formalities though are you, hero? You're here for numbers. So based on this quote from Possum Creek, we've got the data you're looking for here:

Beacon Of Hope

Domestic: $8.50 International: $20

The Mastermind

Domestic: $12 International: $24

All of the orders are being carried out through EasyShip, via Possum Creek Games.

As a special thank you, backer's that helped us fund through the Tide Breaker tier will receive their shipping on us!

Print On Demand

You've made it clear, and I hear you! International shipping can be quite expensive, and everyone can't take on that kind of burden. This is what makes Print On Demand services particularly appealing. I will be spending the remainder of the campaign getting all of the facts straight, but we are excited to be closer to getting you all the news as soon as the story breaks! So far, Drive Thru looks to be our best option and will likely be what we end up going with. Print On Demand is a highly requested service, and I believe we should certainly be able to offer it to our supporters post campaign. Please stay tuned, heroes! We'll keep you posted!

As always, thanks for your support and Keep It Heroic!

Stretch Goal 1 is unlocked!
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 01, 2021 at 03:49:18 PM

Great Progress! Thank you for the support folks!

There isn't much to say here! I'm floored. I just want to thank everybody for believing in us. The team and I are extremely excited about this project and we can't wait to deliver some high quality, ass kicking, drama packed rules and art work wrapped up in a neat little hardcover book (and a PDF of course! Lord knows I tend to lean on digital myself)!

This journey has been a learning experience for me personally, and I'm blessed to have the knowledge of those that have walked this path before to rely on. Nothing is quite like doing it yourself though.  This first set of stretch goals is going to be so fun to get done and I'll be messaging our extended family here today to pull out the champagne/sparkling juice as it's a time to celebrate before the real work ahead of us!

From here, we have one more stretch goal waiting for you, and a final goal that will be revealed upon reaching Tier 2. I've hinted at on twitter, you've definitely heard of this guy as he's made some waves in WoTC and I'm sure once you see what he's preparing, you all are going to FLIP.

Can't wait to share more in the future. Thank you everyone for the love and support.
